DECODE

 MISSION STATEMENT [01]

DESIGN

WITHOUT

WASTE

The fashion industry wastes 15-25% of fabric before a stitch is even sewn. DECODE exists to fix that. Through iterative zero waste design methodology, industry collaborations, and the occasional excellent zine.

 THE FUN STUFF [5]

ZINE CLUB
& SUBSTACK

Not everything about zero waste design has to be a white paper.
We write essays, publish tutorials, and make a real printed zine,
because this stuff should be fun and accessible, not locked behind a wall.

JOIN THE

ZINE

CLUB

A monthly zine containing micro zero waste design projects.
Starting a zero waste make can be a bit intimidating, these are meant to give you the tools to start small and build.

Some projects will include objects, accessories, quilt blocks, or simple garments, each one is completely unique and designed by yours truly.

The instructions on these pages can be limited due to the physical size of the zine, so full writted instructions with photos will be available over on my substack

You can purchase a zine you like any time or you can purchase a full years worth of ZW riso-zines for a small discount.

Most of what I do happens behind the scenes. Whiteboards, pattern paper, mangled attempts, digital experiments and the like that don’t always come together.

Here I’m starting this to share the process, not just the polished results of my work in Zero Waste Systems Design. The parts that are still messy, evolving, and unfinished. The thinking behind the patterns and the making of the system behind the designs.

Some things you can expect to see:
  • Behind the scenes thoughts from my studio and teaching
  • Ideas that don’t neatly live in any current project
  • Zero Waste pattern experiments and tests
  • Observations on sustainability, design, and creative practice
  • Occasional updates on projects that are in the works
  • Pictures of my dog
